This is why I've been a slacker on the Costa Rica Blogs...

I needed my room to be a happier place.

And the monochromatic walls AND ceiling with the
outdated red bedding set just wasn't doing it for me.

I've wanted to redo my bedroom since I moved in, but just didn't know what I wanted until a few months ago when I was inspired by different bedroom features of my two BFFs: Becca's wall color (I actually bought her extra gallon of paint) and Jill's bedding (once I saw it, I went to Marshall's the very next day and bought the last set on the shelf). So, I don't have any original ideas, but putting them together was my idea. Maybe. I forget now...

Anyway, so, here's how my week went (instead of blogging about Costa Rica. I'll get to it, if it kills me!):

MONDAY: Paint the ceilings. Why my walls and ceilings were the same mocha-taupe-whatever color, I do not know. Painting the ceilings ALONE made this drab room brighter.

TUESDAY: Becca & I both had presidency meetings and couldn't work much, so I just caulked the trim after my meeting. No pictures. It's a terribly boring job.

WEDNESDAY: First and second coats of the pretty new paint! (I don't know what the name of the color is. It's like a blueish-greyish-aquaish and it kind of changes colors in different lightings anyway, so it probably should remain nameless.) Of course, it took longer than expected, so it turned out to be a late night.

THURSDAY: Replaced all the old ghetto electrical outlets and light switches with the pretty new white ones. Yes, I learned how to do some electrical stuff. Not too hard, actually. We also meant to replace the ceiling fan, but we were racing the setting sun and trying to maintain Becca's sanity. The fan had to wait.

FRIDAY: The ceiling fan! Finally! And it's beautiful! I promised Becca I would do side by side comparisons on my blog, so here it is:

Old, crappy, ugly fan:

New, powerful, sheek, intelligently installed fan:

and the expressions of joy on Becca's face that it works!

After rearranging the furniture in about every possible location, we settled on an arrangement, made my bed with the new bedding and unveiled the finished product to Wendy.

Here's her "candid" surprised face!

Here's the final product that Wendy beheld. Are you just as amazed?
I <3 it!

I couldn't have done any of this without my HGTV buddy, Becca. Thanks again for all your help. I love your loins!

I'm especially happy with the part where you said (and I quote): "New, powerful, sheek, INTELLIGENTLY installed fan" (CAPS added). It looks so great! And I'm just glad my hideous testing shirt is documented! Now on to Costa Rrrrrrica!

Wow, your room looks amazing! I heart it too! How did you learn to do all that electrical stuff? Can you teach me? I really like the bedding and the wall color combo. I have to come see it next chance I get. Also, nice reaction shot of Wendy, she does look totally surprised.

Great bedding, beautiful serene paint color, sleek intelligently installed fan (hehe), and new switches and covers - your room looks so inviting! And I'm quite impressed that all this change was fueled by girl power.

I love it. Next time we come visit, it will be like a new house. You have done a great job and you have great taste. But I just have one question. Are you painting with your oh so special and so expensive yellow Alaska baseball cap?

Looks very pretty/cool. I like the silver pillow on the bed too. I was thinking the same thing as Melissa...painting in THAT hat??? :)
Well I hope to see your house soon.
