I bought a house in Mesa in March. And though it's supposed to be one of the biggest, scariest decisions someone can make, I did it quickly, without fear and really haven't looked back. I'm so happy to be in my own home and love it more everyday. Most of you missed my house warming party, so I'll give you a sneak peak, via the tons of pictures my cute mother took!
This is the photo from the real estate ad. That big tree isn't there anymore, nor is the for sale sign for that matter. Not a huge fan of the river rock landscape, but I do live in the desert...
Here's my entry way. It's quaint with the circa 1983 arches. I actually like them. Off to the left is the living room/home teacher room. I have a TV in there, but we don't watch much TV.
This is the home teacher room. I painted this room with an accent brick red wall. I actually really like this room but don't spend nearly enough time in it. This room also has a bay window (not pictured and off to the right). Props to Kristin for doing some mad edging work on the red wall paint job... and for being my adviser in the hanging of pictures process. I don't know what I'd do without good, service oriented friends!
This is my newly remodeled kitchen. The previous owner did this in 2006 as a project with her dad and, honestly, this kitchen was a selling point! The minute I walked in and saw a gorgeous open kitchen, I knew this house had to be mine. I just wish I had all the cute stuff to decorate it with. My crap doesn't do this house justice!
This is the fireplace in the great room connected to the kitchen. Although you can't see the entire room, I thought this was a cute picture because my mom posted it on our family website with this caption: "A pretty nice smile from Dad on Mother's Day with Mom and Rebecca. Rebecca's fireplace in background with family pictures on display." How true that is! And for those of you who haven't seen my parents in a while, here they are! Bud and Lucy in all their glory!
This is my back yard. Um, I don't really know what to say about it, other than I have no clue how to take care of a back yard and I'm not about to figure it out during the 120 degree Arizona summers. Pretty sure my grass doesn't look that good anymore. Whoops!
And making your way down the hall, you come to the master bedroom and bathroom first. Nothing special right now. I definitely have plans to redo the bathroom and pick a color scheme for my room. I just don't know what yet, so its fine as is for now!
This is my roommate Wendy's room and bathroom. I'm not really sure she knows my mom took these pictures. And I'm not really sure how she'll feel about me posting this on my blog. :) BUT, I want you to see her new room color we did. It's navajo white with a traditional brown accent wall. She's working on finding bedding to turn it into a kind of rich turquoise blue and brown combo... its hard to describe but she's got good taste, so I know it will look good. I guess this is better than the watermelon pink little girls room it use to be. It was really cute and I begged Wendy to leave it, but she's a grown-up and refused (like in the 2 year old tantrum sort of way) to leave the room like she was 5. Go figure. ;)
Now this room was a little boys room and I totally dig the stripes, so it's definitely staying and I'm just going to work my hardest on having a little boy to put in this room! For now, it's our office/guest bedroom. Wendy and I are really comfortable with just the two of us, so we don't plan on getting a 3rd roommate unless we know of a friend in need... or I suddenly go broke. We also affectionately refer to this as "Kathy's room". Its dedicated in honor of our friend Kathy (the same who inspired me to blog) who spent pretty much her entire spring break helping me paint, clean, you name it, so that we could get the house ready to move in. She left a little surprise for me in the closet when I was on vacation... I don't have a picture to post of it now, but it will definitely be blog worthy! And that's my baby!

Way to jump on the bandwagon, Spendy! I LOVE the look of your new house and would love to pick your brain about house hunting, buying, etc. You are so brave...I love it! I would also love to come and see your new place. Sorry I didn't get there to the party the day after book club...
